2. AVOID BAIT & SWITCH!
Make sure they have pulled your driving record before quoting you a price. Often times companies will quote you a price, take your money then pull your record uncovering violations that increase your price. Customers think, great they are not going to charge me for these tickets or accidents. WRONG. They are going to pull your record and they will charge for any chargeable incodents so get the correct price up front and save yourself the hassle of dealing with bait and switch later on.
3. CHECK THEIR REVIEWS
If they are notorious for offering a low starting prices then raising it at renewal your going to find yourself in this same situation wasting your precious time and hard earned money in 6-12 months. Save yourself the headache and choose a company that has consistent reviews highlighting great service and competitive pricing.
4. PUT THEM TO THE TEST
Have you ever bought something, had great service from a live person in 2 minutes then called back when you need help and it’s like pulling teeth? I know I have. If you’re thinking of buying, call that company back and act like you are an existing client that needs service on an existing policy. if they blow you off or place you on a long hold, with awful music, you know the level of service your going to get after they have your money.
5. KNOW WHAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR
Be sure you are not over or under insured. Often times companies will lower your coverages to offer you a more competitive quote. Be sure you know your policy limits and what they mean. Your policy only pays up to it’s limits. When someone says you have “Full Coverage” that doesn’t mean it will pay up to any amount. The agent quoting you should be able to explain your coverages, limits and what they do for you in way that is easy to understand. Be sure the company quoting you is applying every discount you qualify for. Different carriers offer different discounts. The agent quoting you should know the discounts well enough and ask the right questions to maximize your savings.
